How to read it

Measure your bag with a tape, wheels and handles included, and type the size into Will my bag fit? to see every airline’s answer at once.

A small wheeled carry-on standing on its wheels with the handle pushed down, with three measuring lines: from the floor to the top of the handle, across the front at the widest point including the wheels, and from the back to the front of the packed front pocket.
Measure with the handle pushed down: from the floor to the top of the handle, then across the front and from back to front, wheels and pockets in.

Regional flights and full flights

On American Eagle regional flights, a carry-on bigger than the personal item size is valet checked at the gate, at no charge, except on Embraer 175 planes, which take carry-on bags. On Delta Connection flights (Delta names those with 50 seats or less), only personal items go on board; bigger bags get a pink Gate Claim/Planeside tag and ride in the hold. On CommutAir flights (United Express), only one personal item goes on board. Delta, United, Frontier and Sun Country say a carry-on can be checked at the gate when the bins are full.
