One table on WestJet’s carry-on page gives the personal item 15 cm on its shortest side. The sentence under it and the size table on its baggage page give 14 cm, and all say 6 inches.

UltraBasic

An UltraBasic ticket allows one personal item, and WestJet doesn’t sell a carry-on bag on it. A carry-on bag comes back on flights to and from Europe and Asia, and when Extended Comfort is bought for every flight in one direction, connections included.

An UltraBasic guest who brings a carry-on bag to the gate without one of those exceptions has to check it, and pays a checked bag fee and a service fee.

Fares and checked bags

A checked bag of 158 to 203 cm (62 to 80 in) in total pays an oversize fee. One over 23 kg pays an overweight fee, up to 45 kg (100 lb), or up to 32 kg (70 lb) to and from Europe. Each guest can check up to 4 bags, 3 on WestJet Encore and 2 on flights to Kingston, Jamaica.

Sizers and storage

Carry-on bags and personal items must fit WestJet’s sizing device, wheels included, and be light enough to lift into the overhead bin unaided. The personal item goes under the seat in front of you.
