The Basic fare and the Hand Baggage option
Flying Blue Silver and Explorer members, and travellers who aren’t members, pay for the Hand Baggage option on a Basic fare. Economy allows one hand baggage item at most.
- Basic: 1 small bag; the Hand Baggage option adds a hand baggage item, free for Flying Blue Gold members and above.
- Other Economy fares: 0 to 1 hand baggage and 0 to 2 checked bags, depending on the fare; the Light fare includes no checked baggage.
Size checks
The hand baggage size counts pockets, wheels and handles. Air France checks bags before boarding with sizers at the airport, the bag drop and check-in, and a bag over the size goes in the hold, which may cost a fee. On a full flight, compliant hand baggage may go in the hold for free, so keep travel documents, medicines and electronics with you.
Besides the two bags, you can bring your coat, an umbrella, one bag of duty-free shopping and children’s things such as a diaper bag.
Checked bags
Pockets, wheels and handles count in the checked bag’s size too. A bag of 158 to 300 cm (62.2 to 118 in) in total is dropped at the Oversized Baggage counter and pays an Oversized Baggage option at the airport. One heavier than your ticket allows, up to 32 kg (70.5 lb), pays an Overweight Baggage option there too. A bag over 300 cm or 32 kg goes through Air France Cargo.
