The two bags
The hand bag must easily fit under the seat in front of you, and it’s guaranteed in the cabin, so it’s the bag for medication, phones, other electronics and passports. The cabin bag goes in the overhead locker, and since it may need to go in the hold, keep valuables, electronics and essential medicines out of it.
Economy Basic
Economy Basic is British Airways’ hand baggage only fare.
- Economy Basic: a hand bag and a cabin bag; no checked bag, which costs extra.
- Economy with checked bag: a hand bag, a cabin bag and 1 checked bag of up to 23 kg.
Checked bags
The 23 kg (50 lb) limit is per bag and can’t be split between bags. No checked bag may weigh over 32 kg (70 lb), and a bag between 23 and 32 kg that’s over your allowance pays the heavy bag charge. In Business, each bag may weigh up to 32 kg. The baggage calculator and Manage My Booking show the allowance for your own trip.
