Use the sizer boxes
Sun Country keeps carry-on sizer boxes near its check-in counters and in the gate areas, and the overhead bag has to fit easily inside one. The overhead bag’s limit counts wheels, handles and anything else that sticks out. At 24 x 16 x 11 inches, the overhead bag is the largest carry-on of the US airlines here.
Too big, or no bag option
- Only travelers who chose the overhead bag option can use the overhead bins.
- A carry-on or under-seat item over its limit travels only as a checked bag, and you pay the checked bag fee.
- When the bins are full, Sun Country tags the remaining overhead bags and they fly as checked bags.
A coat or hat doesn’t count as a bag, and car seats and strollers are checked at no charge.
Buy bags when you book
Sun Country’s bag options cost the least when you make the reservation. They cost more when added later in My Trips or at online check-in, more again at the ticket counter, and the most at the gate, which also adds a gate handling fee. Prices are per person, each way, and aren’t refunded. Sun Country Visa Signature cardholders get 50% off the first bag when it’s bought ahead online or by phone with Sun Country Reservations.
